COVID 19 INFO & GUIDELINES

ROAR Berlin’s leadership has been monitoring the latest updates on travel and safety regarding the COVID 19 pandemic. While the landscape is ever changing, we are moving forward with contingencies and protocols in place. Currently, travel to Germany is restricted from some places and requires a quarantine upon arrival. We expect these regulations to change but are also aware they may not. We will take all conditions into consideration when making our decisions about how to best have a safe and fruitful program and will stay in constant communication with our participants.

TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS TO GERMANY

As of April 28

-10 Day quarantine upon arrival or 5 day quarantine + negative test

We recommend booking flexible and refundable travel tickets and accommodations this year. Many airlines have made flexible tickets widely accessible.

Rules of conduct (in person)

We ask that ROAR participants follow all guidelines in regard to preventing the spread of COVID 19 including washing/disinfecting your hands frequently, maintaining distance and wearing a mask in all indoor public spaces.

Currently, we do not expect masks to be required during classes/workshops but will follow all necessary regulations. We ask that you be prepared to do some of the workshop masked and some outdoors. Because everyone has different needs in regards to safety, it is critical that you be willing to follow what is best for the group.

We have decreased participant numbers in order to have the maximum amount of space in the studio to move safely and will keep windows open to help fresh air circulate. You can expect that we will be taking more breaks to go outdoors and that many indoor exercises will be modified to reduce the potential of spread.

Each year, ROAR participants form a close community and we expect this year to be the same. Because we will be 10-15 people for the entire experience (unlike festivals with different participants in each class) we feel the risk is somewhat reduced, however, participants will all live in different housing situations and engage in social activities in different ways. For this year, more than any other, we ask participants to prioritize the health and well-being of the ROAR community in order to prevent the disruption or cancellation of the program. While we have no control over the coronavirus, there are things we can do to reduce exposure and spread. We’ll ask and expect participants to abide by regulations so that we can carry out our program safely.

Testing Requirements

In addition to any testing requirements based on travel restrictions, we plan to require participants to present two negative COVID 19 tests (antigen or PCR test) or a certificate of recovery from a COVID 19 infection within the last 6 months for the in-person segment of the program. Testing expenses will be the responsibility of participants. Quick tests are approximately 20€. If regulations change to suggest this isn’t necessary, we will revise this requirement accordingly.

August 16 - First Day

August 31 - Halfway through

Special cancellation policy for COVID-19

If you are unexpectedly unable to attend ROAR due to an official travel/entry ban on short notice (corresponding to an official announcement), an infection or a justified suspicion of an infection with COVID-19, the participation fee will be refunded to you minus a 75€ administration fee up to 20 days in advance of the program. If any of the above circumstances occur within 20 days of the start of the program, a 250€ administration fee will be deducted. Refunds are only granted if we are notified immediately and will not be granted if you have delayed notifying us even with medical certification. This decision is always at the discretion of ROAR’s management. Any private expenses (travel costs, accommodation costs, etc.), however, cannot be reimbursed.

ROAR is an independent, artist-run organization that uses all fees to pay our basic operating expenses and artist fees. We ask that you plan your attendance with care and recognize that we are not institutionally backed to make up for lost expenses. We understand that this is a precarious time to make these decisions and appreciate the risk it takes to invest time and money in dance. We thank you for your interest in ROAR.
